Nacula , the third largest of the Yasawa Group, is a hilly volcanic island with four villages. It is about 10 km long and 3km wide. Nacula village is the home of Ratu Epeli Vuetibau, the Tui Drola or high chief of the tikina. Approximately 3500 people live in the tikina, which includes the middle islands of the Yasawa chain. The island has a number of interesting budget properties to stay at and also has 2 significant Fijian villages. There are many gorgeous beaches, rugged hills for guided treks and stunning scenery.

Coral Cay Conservation (CCC) is a UK-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to alleviating poverty. They provide less developed countries with needed information to protect and
sustain use of tropical forests and coral reefs.

CCC recently expanded its operations in Fiji to the Yasawas and have a base at Safe Landing. They are undertaking coral reef research to establish marine protected areas, and also providing conservation, education and training opportunities to indigenous Fijians from the local area. You will meet many of the expeditioners and staff of CCC at Safe Landing.

“The coral reefs of the Yasawas are a vital natural resource in urgent need of protection. Our task is to empower local communities with the knowledge and resources they need to ensure these wonderful reefs thrive for all to enjoy.”

Peter Raines, MBE,
Founder & M.D. of CCC.
